An early animation (1998) experimenting with particle systems in 3ds Max 2
A number of things went into this animation I did as a student in 1998. It was an effort to learn how to use particle systems in Max, a relatively advanced and new feature at the time, but the rendering was also done with raytracing for reflections. This ended up taking a long to render back then. I also used an IK system on the lamp pull chain trying to achieve that loose, "bouncy" effect you get when you yank and release one of those. That didn't turn out as expected but I remember confronting some of these more advanced issue all at once at a very early time in my education. Man, I loved 3ds Max. Seemed like I could create anything I thought of....
