My name is David Sparks. I am the sole proprietor of Digital Animation Services, located in Denver, Colorado. For more than 2 decades, DAS has been creating unique computer generated content for a large variety of clients with projects ranging from custom character creation and animation to architectural visualizations and special effects. My passion has always been 3D animation, but along the way that passion expanded to many other facets of the animation world, from 3D modeling and scripting to matchmoving, motion capture, real-time, VR and just about every nook and cranny in between. I began my professional career at Fay Engineering Corporation, one of the nation's leading forensic and accident reconstruction firms, where I continued to work for 2 decades as the Senior Animator and Motion Capture Technical Director. I finished my career in 2019 as a Senior Design Visualization Specialist working in the Realtime and VR Dept. at WSP USA, one of the world’s largest engineering firms that fortunately had its 3D department in downtown Denver. I was the first, and still am, the longest tenured Autodesk Certified 3ds Max Instructor in Colorado. From 2000 – 2015 I spent much of my time as an instructor, both privately through DAS and for several Autodesk Training Centers, in addition to serving as a faculty member at the former Art Institute of Colorado in the Industrial Design, Computer Animation and Continuing Education departments. As an instructor, I was blessed to have had the opportunity to share my love of computer animation with so many interesting students and professionals. But my greatest joy always came from the seemingly limitless passion and diverse knowledge so many kind and brilliant artists shared with me. I earned my Associates Degree in Computer Animation from the Colorado Institute of Art in 1998 to go along with a Masters Degree in Music Performance from Northwestern University back in 1986.
